Never tuck! Never let them see your biggest weakness.
Go a size smaller-- it may feel tight, but you won’t look like a whale floating in a potato sack.
Make sure you feel comfortable. If you don’t feel comfortable you will look uncomfortable and if you look uncomfortable you will look bad in pictures and if you look bad in pictures taken with a digital camera that was not yours you will not be able to delete them.
2-Who does your hair? Cuisinart?
Can you believe that I get expensive haircuts? I tell them-- make it look like I didn’t just get my haircut, but when I did I went to Supercuts… and for this I pay over $100.
3-What’s the biggest mistake you’ve ever made, besides not answering my two original sets of 7 questions?
You know how some people play that mind game, “If I could go back in time and change one thing…” or they say, “I only have one regret.” Well, I regret every single decision I have made in my adult life. My life worked much better when my parents made all the decisions for me. But if I had to pick just one it would be agreeing to answer your 7 questions. I think 5 would’ve been enough! Kidding of course.
4-Name three people who have influenced you--in different ways.
My parents-- gave me a foundation and the tools to stay grounded.
Bob Dylan-- is there any artist truer to his voice?
Garry Shandling for helping me understand so much of life off stage.
5-What made you know you were good at comedy?
I could never hold a real job. And I found making people laugh both gratifying and kind of easier than working 10 hours a day. But regret #1, not getting a real job.
6-What’s your all time favorite neurosis? And what do you do to get past it?
Second guessing myself-- like should I go back and re-answer #3? Did I answer #3 good enough? Will people understand that I was joking, or will they think I was serious? It’s an all-star neurosis and the only way to get past it is to address it-- second guess.
7-What do you do when the “Brain Noise” just won’t go away?
I do a BrainNoise video. In all honesty, the noise never goes away. I have to live with it twenty-four hours a day-- you only have to live with it for 3 minutes if you choose to watch the videos… and I hope you do. Thanks Alison. This was fun and I was wrong, 7 is the correct amount of questions.
Catch Orny performing next at Improv Melrose in Los Angeles on March 27 & 28. And keep up with the things that go on in his head at www. BrainNoise.com
