1. You recently joined the cast of the#1 show on daytime, The Young & the Restless after a successful run on The Bold & the Beautiful. Since you’re playing the same handsome bad guy, Deacon Sharpe what naughty tricks were you up to the first week on the show? After getting my mother-in-law pregnant on The Bold & the Beautiful, I continued my bad boy streak on Y & R and my character slept with two different women the first week I was on the show. My character happens to be morally challenged.
2. Besides your acting career you enjoy stepping on stage and cracking jokes. What lead you to comedy? When I was 15, I used to sneak into a comedy club and was riveted by Bill Maher and Dom Irrera. I was bitten by the bug and now try to perform stand-up whenever I can fit it in. My next gig is the Improv in Irvine, Ca on December 9th.
3. You obviously have a love for fashion. I always see you in stylish clothes including the Gucci belt and sport jacket you’re wearing now. How would you define your style? I’m a suit guy and I like to shop for good clothes. I spent 14 months in Italy shooting a movie and being on the Italian version of Dancing with the Stars and that lead to a love of clothes. I’m a big fan of Gucci and Roberto Cavalli. My go to item in my wardrobe would be a long black coat worn on a crisp fall day.
4. Best father and daughter date? We like to go to Loew’s Hardware and play with power tools. Just kidding. Actually my daughter Simone loves trips to Color Me Mine for an afternoon of painting pottery. And we love going to the movies.
5.Have a little down time? I’m an absolute Cinephile. I love going to a matinee when I’m not working. My daughter Simone shares my passion for movies. And surprisingly she and I are both horror film fans.
6.Best place to truly get away and relax? Bora Bora and Sardinia
7. You and I both volunteer for The Rescue Train, which is an animal rescue organization and we both have rescue dogs. I have two dogs and you mentioned you’d love to adopt a second dog. I would love to adopt a second dog, but it’s a big responsibility and with my schedule it would be unfair to the dogs. I see so many people in the entertainment industry who carry their tiny dogs in their purses and it’s sad that they see them as an accessory. My opinion is that if you can’t give them love and attention you shouldn’t adopt. So for now I’m a one dog guy.
Me and Sean at the fourth annual Race for the Rescues at the Pasadena Rose Bowl.
1. Being the host of a show that gives us some of the best truncated snapshots of reality television, what are your favorite shows to pick on?
Project Runway, because it is such a great show anyway.
America’s Next Top Model gives us plenty of material with Tyra and it’s cast.
Tool Academy, clearly no explanation necessary. (Although I’ve sadly known someone on each season)
And just about anything on The Hills once it’s in full swing.
2. Tell me about the set up of the show and do you really laugh as much as we presume? We have just finished our first full year of shooting and we love it. We have so much fun and I hope it shows. We have the green screen backdrop that we fake with a pictured studio and we’re lucky with an early shoot time on Friday mornings that we even get about 10-20 people as our audience.
3. We met at the Race for the Rescues to help bring awareness and raise funds for seven rescue groups in LA. Danielle ran in the 5k race and later brought her 10 year old dog, Anna around to the different booths. Her reason to run? Simple, in this economy more dogs are ending up in shelters and my hope is that these organizations can give them a voice. If you have a home and a job then it’s time you consider giving some love to a dog in need.
4. Last splurge? I’m pretty good on not splurging, oh no, I take that back. I totally splurged on a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, but bought them on a gift card that The Style Network gave me.
5. Go to item in your wardrobe? Black knee high leather boots. They work under jeans, over jeans, with a skirt or dress-anytime I put them on I say ”that works.”
6. My best beauty product? No question, Bobbi Brown tinted moisturizer. I won’t leave anywhere without it. I can wear it anywhere. I can even wear it to the gym so I don’t have a completely naked face, but don’t have to wear a full face of makeup while working out.
7. What's next? Hopefully, a second year of The Dish.
As host of the Style Network's The Dish, Danielle Fishel is always ready to rock with sassy commentary and quick wit as she wraps up the week's best and worst in fashion and celebrity lifestyle.
Danielle is into fashion and living glamorously but is much too smart to be duped by ridiculous trends, weight-loss schemes or tabloid gossip. She's not afraid to make fun of the latest Hollywood hairdo—and then admit to maybe trying it herself. Whether it's reliving the must-see moments of Project Runway, dishing on red carpet do's and don'ts or chronicling the latest celeb baby bump, Danielle can be counted on to tell it like it is.
Growing up in Southern California, Danielle started acting in TV commercials and series at age 10. Best known for her work as Topanga Lawrence from seven seasons of the hit series Boy Meets World, Danielle was cast originally as a guest star but brought a spark the show needed and was added as a series regular. Danielle has appeared on Yes, Dear and served as a special correspondent for The Tyra Banks Show. She was also a spokesperson for NutriSystem.
When she's not doing The Dish, Danielle can be found studying for her degree in psychology (with a focus in marriage and family therapy) or hanging with her dog, Anna, a Maltese who does all kinds of cool tricks.
NBC Today Show Financial Editor, Columnist for More Magazine, daily blogger at www.jeanchatzky.com

1. If you were given $100 to use purely to splurge what would you spend it on?
And with $1,000?
I’d probably spend the $100 on a ticket to a Broadway show. I’d use the $1,000 to take a trip…there’s some great travel deals out there now.
2. What are three simple money saving tips that anybody can implement into their lives?
1. Keep track of everything you spend…even the little things. A latte here, a new lipstick there…they all add up. 2. If you’re an online shopper, I’m a fan of Googling the item you’re looking to buy along with the words “Promo code,” or “coupon.” Lots of times you’ll end up with a promotional code for a discount or free shipping. 3. Hunt for freebies. Believe it or not, there are lots of things you can get for free out there. One of my favorites is the free directory assistance service available through 1-800-FREE-411. Sure, you might have to listen to an advertisement, but you’ll avoid the cost of dialing 411 every time you need a number.
3. What should every woman know when it comes to her finances?
Every woman should have at least three months (six months is better if you can swing it) of living expenses in the bank. That financial cushion will be what saves you if you lose your job, get diagnosed with an unexpected illness, or if you find yourself in another emergency situation.
4. We all know you as the financial go-to-gal, and thankfully you make it all understandable, but given the chance what other profession would you love to have an opportunity to explore?
I’d like to try out being a chef…I love to cook!
5. What do you love wearing from your wardrobe right now and what do you hope to add to your closet for fall?
Let’s see…the in-between season can be tricky, so right now I’m all about saving money by accessorizing parts of my summer wardrobe to make them work for fall. Scarves, tights, light sweaters over summer dresses can all help you to do this. For fall, I’m hoping to add a couple new pairs of boots to my closet…but not the over the knee ones that seem to be so popular now!
6. Helping those in distress over their finances can be both rewarding and overwhelming what do you do to zone out, laugh or de-stress?
If I want to de-stress I’ll go for a run. If I want to zone out a trip to the movies usually does the trick.
7. Anything that has surprised you about being in a house with teenagers?
Let’s see…there are lots of surprises. I’m actually surprised at the amount of homework my teens get…I don’t remember being that busy with homework when I was their age!
