Always stick to flat front pants whether you are a man or a woman. Ladies, tell your men! Pleats are extra fabric that either make you look bigger or you end up filling with extra body weight. At least a flat front will try to work as a minimizer.

Yikes! The jeans you've fallen in love with cost $150. Don't despair. Jeans last for years and the more you wear them the less expensive they become. It's what we call the cost per wear ratio.

Avoid tapered jeans and pants. They should be banished. They distort the body shape by adding “weight” around the hips and thighs and making the ankles look skinnier.

Can't decide on what color jeans to buy, or should I say “how dark the dye?” Then buy the dark pair, you'll end up wearing them more often and they easily become a stylish evening look when paired with heels.

There is no need to buy yourself a new wardrobe each season. Really, I kid you not. Do you even know anybody who does? But it is divine to pick out one or two new pieces each season to give your wardrobe a boost.

Wear color. Color brightens your mood, makes you seem more approachable and attracts friendly attention. Choose colors that warm your skin tone, not ones that wash you out.

Find a good tailor in your community. A tailor can change your wardrobe and the fit of your clothes for the better. Hem pants, add a cuff, reshape shoulders, shorten sleeves or cut a dress or jacket to fit your body like a second skin.

Ignore sizes - clothes that fit you properly look better. There are no tags on the outside of your clothes so nobody needs to know your size.
